People are Dying of Communism

We’re a part of April’s Army on Etsy. The super awesome part of this street team is that the last week of every month, there’s a charity shop. Well, the charity shop is always there, but it only has stuff listed for a week.
This month’s theme for the shop is the letter C. There was a post on Regretsy about people dying of communism, so that’s what I went with.

If you like this and want to help an Etsian who lost everything in an electrical fire, you can buy it between the 30th and the 6th.

Jewelry by Josh

A few days ago, I received an amazing necklace in the mail from Jewelry by Josh.

If you’ve been following along you know that Paul and I both love the Portal games. This is now Paul’s necklace. It is even more super awesome looking in person. It’s also awesome because it’s something even a 30 year old man will wear.

Josh is so cool that he’s even made a special coupon for my readers, that’s you! G33K10 will get you 10% off anything in his Etsy shop.  He has dice jewelry and metal cutouts like this one, definitely something you’ll love. So why not go on over and grab yourself something awesome!

Thor: God of Thunder review

I was going to post a game review today, it being Game Review Friday and all, but last night I saw a movie. Not just any movie. It was Thor. It was in 3D, and it was an IMAX movie. I figured I should hammer out this review while it was still fresh in my mind. (congratulations if you got that pun)

Before I get into the movie, which was Epic, I want to make a comment on 3D movies. Before last night I was a 3D virgin, and I am happy to say that for me at least, 3D was a gentle lover. I am taken to understanding that some people experience problems with 3D. Headaches and the like. I am apparently not one of those people. The 3D looked and felt natural, it didn’t feel gimmicky like I thought it would. I’m sure this is an old joke, but, I really wish real life was in 3D.

As a side note, for those of you who are forced to endure 3D movies and find them displeasing, there is a solution.

Now, Thor. I should start by saying that I am not a fan of the Thor comic books. Not that I don’t like them, just that I was always attracted to other super heroes, ones who weren’t born as gods, but got their powers in more natural ways, like secret government projects or being bitten by spiders. I wasn’t expecting much from Thor and maybe that helped me to reach this conclusion. This movie was fucking incredible. Let’s run down the list.

1. A naturally progressing story that didn’t feel forced or contrived.
2. Natalie Portman (hot)
3. Some generally funny moments that didn’t distract from the story, but rather added to it.
4. Natalie Portman (hot)
5. Chris Hemsworth, an actor I previously didn’t even have on my radar, made a great Thor. Very believable.
6. Tom Hiddleston made an amazing Loki.
7. Natalie Portman (hothothothot)
8. Anthony Hopkins as Odin. I mean really, how do you beat Hannibal Lector as the All-Father?
9. And, saving the best for last, Natalie Portman was looking pretty good in this movie.

I don’t want to ruin anything for those who haven’t seen it, but if you have any interest in comics or superheroes, go see Thor. For me, this beats Iron Man, no small feat. I have always had a soft spot for comic movies, even the really bad ones like Punisher with Dolph Lundgren, so it’s great to see Hollywood finally getting them right.
