Recently I got a chance to go on a date with my darling wife Redd, and for that date we decided that we would go with the ageless classic of dinner and a movie.  For dinner, we ended up at Lick’s which is the best place to get a veggie burger this side of heaven.  For the movie, we went with The Hunger Games.

Let me start by saying that I was a little disappointed.  The casting was pretty good, I thought that Jennifer Lawrence made an excellent Katniss, and I loved Donald Sutherland as President Snow.  What was really lacking was any kind of explanation as to what the hell was going on.  I have read the first two books, and I am almost through the third, so I get it, but seriously they didn’t really even attempt to set up exactly what was going on and why it was happening.

I am trying to do this without spoilers, so if you haven’t read the book I will make a simple suggestion.  Read the book first.  The movie wasn’t bad, it just was not as good as I had hoped it would be.  The books however, are well written and give depth to the characters that was missing in the movie.  Also, Jennifer Lawrence is hot.  It feels weird saying that since she plays a 14 year old in the movie, but she is 21 so I will let it slide.
